The data is sourced from scraping six popular cannabis subreddits and analyzing that content with AI to extract sentiment. Upvotes, downvotes, and comments are used to calculate a trend score, which measures how much attention a product is receiving.

It’s important to note that products appear on this list for both good and bad reasons. We track sentiment using emojis: 🔥 represents positive reviews, 💩 represents negative reviews, and neutral sentiment is shown using the double arrow emoji. For example, a brand with one 🔥 and one 💩 is receiving mixed reviews, while a brand stacking multiple 🔥 emojis is clearly resonating well with consumers. We sum trend scores by brand and surface them on BudTrendz so you can see what’s hot in any four-hour period. We repeat this process every week.
